Movie 2 Movie ComparisonI faltered @ 5:37 p.m. on February 19, 2003
Today I was watching "Porky's II: The Next Day" and on Sunday I was watching "The Music Man". The movies are not related in story line but there is one concept that's in "The Music Man" that relates it to "Porky's II". In "The Music Man" the women Marian reads Novels by authors that are considered a plague to the living world. An example of an author is Honore de Balzac, the famous french realist novelist. In "Porky's II" the Angel Beach High schoolers are doing excerpts from all of William Shakespeare's plays. Now in both movies the people consider that evil and deranged. They feel that both men's view on sex, and anything with a sexual or erotic meaning, are disgusting and inappropriate for the ears and eyes of the people. I don't understand why people tend to describe the beautiful work of the authors of the 17th century and earlier, as distasteful and unpleasant. Most of people who criticize these beautiful stories don't understand what the author's trying to say. They become in denial and harsh when you try to teach them the meaning of what the author's are writing. Though it "Porky's II" the high schoolers fought back by quoting from the bible. The bible, though some people may object, has a a lot of sexual context. Actually I find it to be sexist and degrading to women. I also think you can tell it was created by men because it doesn't have any kind of a women's point of view. And they seem to think women are inferior to men. Back to the movies: In my opinion the people blow their fears way out of proportion. I luv Balzac and Shakespeare's novels and think their writing is just another way to describe sexual intimacies.
